The First Walk of Sprinter

Many say that the first day of spring is the first day of the new year, even though it still feels like winter for most of us in Canada. That's why we call it "sprinter" — that season where winter ends and spring begins.

Sprinter is a special time of year; we dress for winter in the morning, and by the afternoon, we're peeling off layers. The sidewalks are still icy, as the snow melts during the day and freezes by nightfall.

Today I took a walk down the street for the first time in a pair of shoes that have not seen the great outdoors since snow fell (as they are not adorned with treads) and enoyed the feeling of once again walking on pavement. I had to dodge the occasional ice berg where snow had quasi melted and frozen again, but it was glorious, nonetheless.
